It all started in Rovaniemi, in a small garage filled with skis, wax, and big dreams. There, Kimmo Wuotila founded the original SKIROI, a true northern ski shop that began with simple ski maintenance and soon expanded to sell skis, boots, clothing, and even surfboards for those chasing waves instead of powder.

As word spread, SKIROI moved into a purpose-built loghouse in the heart of Rovaniemi. It became more than a shop, it was a warm, wooden meeting place where people came for gear but stayed for stories, coffee, and the shared love of winter.

The ’90s brought challenges, and like many family businesses, SKIROI eventually faced hard times. But its spirit never disappeared, it simply waited for the next season to begin.

That season is soon here and SKIROI will be back, infused with the same northern soul but reimagined for a sustainable future.

What began as a small garage shop has evolved into a brand that honors its roots while redefining Nordic design – authentic, responsible, and quietly powerful.
